1. I need to have a spring Start Up.
SwampTech suggests that you have your pads changed once a year. Single inlet coolers should be changed every five to seven years.

Have you changed your pads in the last year?

Most likely problem is the flashing at the base of the cooler.

Solution:

8. My cooler is Leaking onto the Roof.

There are four different possible reasons your cooler is leaking
-The water line is leaking or a compression nut is cracked
-Your float valve needs to be adjusted or replaced
-The water pan has a rust hole and the cooler needs to be replaced
-Your pads are the wrong type or installed improperly.

Price Range:

$75.00 to $383.00 -This depends on the specific problem (most commonly $75 to $150)
Your cooler may need to be replaced. If your cooler needs to be replaced, the service fee can be applied toward the cost of the new cooler.

SwampTech provides rope to tie down your cooler, but straps are suggested. Straps hold the cover on the cooler much better than rope and can be reused.

When you turn your cooler to pump can you hear the pump running?

~ Yes

There are four possible reasons why your cooler is blowing warm air:
-You don't have the proper ventilation for your cooler
-Your system is clogged up from debris and your pads are not getting fully saturated
-Your pads have lost their ability to retain water
-Your float valve is set to low.

Have you changed your Pads in the last year or if you have a Single Inlet Cooler, have your Pads been changed within the last five years?

Most likely the cooler needs a new motor.

$249.00 to $279.00 -Repair Service, new motor and amping motor. In some cases a 1HP motor is needed at a price of $377

Most likely your cooler has some kind of electrical problem.

Pricing:

This can be anywhere from a loose wire, bad switch or bad/defective wires. Electrical problems can not be estimated as there are many different scenarios that can cause the problem. In order to give a price on the repair we would have to charge a Repair Service call of $75.00 and charge for an electrical diagnostic of $75.00 per hour charged by the minute.

6. My cooler is Leaking Water into the house.

Is the cooler leaking constantly or just when the cooler is on?

~ Leaking just when the cooler is on.

There are five different possible reasons your cooler is leaking inside:
-Spider assembly has a crack in it and is leaking onto the fan assembly and then down into the house. Would need a spider assembly
-The pump hose is to close to the belt and has sprung a leak. Would need a new pump hose.
-A spider arm is pointing toward fan assembly or your water line has a leak that is pointing at the fan assembly. Requires only our regular Repair Service
-Water is being pulled from the pads into fan assembly. May require new pads
-May have a rust hole above water line and when the cooler is on it pulls water into hole. To repair this problem the cooler may need to be replaced.

Price Range:

$75.00 to $127.00 -Depending on the specific problem, you may need a replacement cooler. If your cooler needs to be replaced, the service fee can be applied toward the cost of the new cooler.

6. My cooler is Leaking Water into the house.

Is the cooler leaking constantly or just when the cooler is on?

~ Constantly

There are two different possible reasons why your cooler is leaking:
-Water line has sprung a leak
-Cooler pan has rust hole.

Price Range:

$123.00 to $383.00 -Repair Service and water line replacement. Price for water line replacement varies depending on how long the water line is and how long it takes to install. SwampTech recommends that you run the water line on the outside of the house for three reasons:
-If your water line leaks it doesn't flood your house
-If you have a small leak it is easy to find and does not damage your house
-Labor cost on outside lines is much less expensive.

Your cooler may need to be replaced. If your cooler needs to be replaced, the service fee can be applied toward the cost of the new cooler.

9. My cooler Smells Bad.

Have you recently replaced your pads?

~ No

Cooler may need new pads or just a mid season cleaning. This also may be caused by something outside the cooler.

Price Range:

$75.00 to $127.00 -Aspen Cooler (depending on pads)
$75.00 to $338.00 -Single Inlet Cooler (depending on pads)
You may want to add a fresh air tab to your cooler to reduce the smell. The cost of the fresh air tab is only $7.00.

New Pads have a smell associated with them. The smell should be gone in a couple of days. But if the smell is unbearable. Run the cooler while you’re gone with the windows open or Run the pump while you’re gone to flush out the pads.

Most likely problem is that the motor is getting old and amping too high causing the thermo switch inside the motor to turn the motor off. This prevents the motor from overheating.
